The DTW vacuum-brazed diamond-tipped drill bit is designed for dry drilling of hard coating materials. The hexagonal shank helps reduce slippage in the chuck, and the built-in wax aids in cooling the drill bit during operation.

Suitable materials

Can be used for drilling porcelain, ceramics, glass, granite, marble, stoneware, slate, terracotta, terrazzo, and other similarly hard covering materials. Results depend on the material’s hardness, thickness, speed, and drilling technique.

Instructions for Use

1. Secure the workpiece firmly and mark the drilling location.


2. Start drilling at an angle of approximately 45° to allow the drill bit to grip the surface.


3. Gradually adjust the drill to a vertical position, then work with a gentle circular or oscillating motion.


4. Do not apply excessive pressure; let the diamond grit and the rotational speed do the cutting.


5. When drilling multiple holes, allow the drill shank to cool between operations; always remove it from the machine before dipping it in water.

The source’s manufacturer’s guide recommends a high-speed, corded 110/230 V drill and does not recommend using an 18 V cordless drill.

Safety Precautions

• Wear safety goggles, an appropriate dust mask, ear protection, and work gloves.


• Before drilling, check that there are no wires or pipes behind the surface.


• Do not use a drill bit that is cracked, deformed, or heavily worn.


• The drill bit may become hot during use; allow it to cool completely before touching it.


• When drilling into glass or fragile surfaces, use particularly light pressure.
